The IITOS would like to create awareness for medical students by:
- Raising the quality of Trauma and Orthopaedic care, including; effective, evidence-based initial management of common conditions by junior doctors
- Increasing medical student interest in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery as a career choice, with the ultimate aim of increasing the orthopaedic workforce; and
- Facilitating medical students interest in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery as a career by maximising their potential & development.
The National Orthopaedic Literary Awards was established by Professor John O’Byrne as a creative writing competition for Medical Students in Ireland.
